“When the idea of a climbing road trip, north of Sydney, was first suggested ... I was like, why?
Sure, there may me a good route here and there, but nothing worth making the trip for.
I was wrong.”
The Great Australian Coastal Cave Climbing Crawl From Campbelltown to Coolum.
A rock climbing adventure with Ben Cossey.
Ben Cossey is one of Australia’s most accomplished climbers — known for his obsessive training, his long list of first ascents, and his deep knowledge of local climbing history. But despite decades in the sport, there are still big gaps on the map.
Like many, Ben had focused on the usual suspects — Arapiles, the Grampians, Blue Mountains, Nowra. But what about everything in between? For years, he assumed the in-between held nothing of real interest. Five Caves. Five Days sets out to prove otherwise.
This lighthearted road trip follows Ben up the East Coast of Australia as he visits five lesser-known crags, meets the locals and uncovers a string of hidden gems. It’s a fresh take on exploration, community, and the unexpected things we find when stepping off the beaten path.
The community was a massive part of this project. At each stop, we teamed up with local climbers and photographers whose perspectives helped shape the story. Their images were used throughout the film and in a limited-edition print magazine released during the tour.
The film had sellout screenings at gyms and events up the East Coast and beyond — bringing together climbers, creatives, and general frothers from all over the country!
